There’s something extraordinary about walking into a room filled with hundreds of Rotarians from across the Indian Ocean and knowing that every person there shares the same heartbeat — a deep, unwavering commitment to service above self. That is exactly the feeling that carried our Seychelles delegation through an unforgettable week at the Conférence and Assemblée D9220 – 2026, held from 13 to 17 May 2026 at the RM Garden in Mauritius.
Flying the Flag With Pride
The conference opened with a moment that filled every member of our delegation with immense pride — the Seychelles flag flying high among the banners of our sister nations. It was a symbol of unity, leadership, and the contribution our islands continue to make to the District 9220 family. Members from both the Rotary Club of Victoria and the Rotary Club Victoria Coco de Mer Seychelles came together to represent our country, and they did so with warmth, energy, and a deep sense of purpose.
The days that followed were rich with fellowship, learning, and inspiration. From keynote sessions and workshops to networking opportunities and shared reflections on the future of Rotary in our region, every moment of the conference reinforced the power of connection. Across the Indian Ocean — from Seychelles to Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, Mayotte, Djibouti, and Comoros — our district is a tapestry of diverse cultures united by common values, and this gathering brought that tapestry vividly to life.
An Evening of Blue and Gold
One of the most memorable highlights of the week was the home hospitality evening on 15 May, hosted by the Rotary Club of Floréal in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Helvetia Happiness and the Rotary Club Montebello. Under the elegant theme “Blue and Gold,” the evening unfolded with heartfelt fellowship, new friendships, shared laughter, and a warmth that only Rotary gatherings can create.
What made this evening truly special wasn’t just the elegance of the setting or the generosity of our hosts — it was the reminder that beyond meetings and conferences, Rotary is first and foremost about people coming together to make lasting bonds and meaningful memories. The conversations, the stories exchanged over dinner, the connections made between clubs that are separated by ocean but joined by purpose — these are the moments that stay with you long after the conference ends.
Compassion Beyond the Conference Hall
But perhaps the most powerful moment of the week took place not inside the conference venue, but on the streets of Port Louis. On Sunday, 10 May, just before the conference formally opened, members of the Rotary Club of Victoria joined the Rotary Club of Quatre Bornes and the Rotary Club Saint-Denis Austral for a community outreach initiative, distributing clothing, meals, drinks, and blankets to homeless individuals. It was a moving reminder that our gathering isn’t just about reflection and planning — it’s about action, carried out with compassion and humility wherever we find ourselves.
Gratitude and Brotherhood
We are deeply grateful to the entire District 9220 organising team for putting together a conference that was both professionally enriching and profoundly human. We extend our warmest thanks to the Rotary Club of Floréal, the Rotary Club of Helvetia Happiness, and the Rotary Club Montebello for their generous hospitality and the unforgettable Blue and Gold evening. And to every Rotarian who shared a handshake, a story, or a moment of laughter with our delegation — thank you for reminding us that this family stretches far beyond our shores.
We are also deeply proud of each member of the Seychelles delegation. Your energy, your openness, and your dedication to representing our islands with grace and purpose made this week something we will remember for years to come.
Looking Forward Together
We return home energised, inspired, and more connected than ever to our District 9220 family. The ideas shared, the partnerships strengthened, and the friendships formed during this conference will fuel our work in the months ahead. As we continue our mission under the theme “Unite for Good,” we carry with us the knowledge that we are part of something far bigger than any single club or any single island — we are part of a movement that spans oceans and touches lives.
Together, across every island and every shore, we are building a future rooted in service, fellowship, and the belief that when we unite, there is no limit to the good we can do.
